I am Kate Leatherbarrow and I am running for a seat on Woodstock's City Council. I am asking for your vote on October 22nd, as I believe it is time for a renewed relationship with the citizens of Woodstock. Public input must be put at the top of our priority list as we continue to push forward. I am a small business owner, community advocate, mother, friend, and I want to represent you!
Our Municipal election is on October, 22nd. The first step is to make sure you are on the Voters List! All the information you need is on the City of Woodstock's website and you can find the link below.
“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples.”
— MOTHER TERESA
Shaping our beautiful city starts with you! Your thoughts and concerns are important to me as we join together to make decisions on the future of Woodstock. I want to represent you and familiarize the public on the process that happens at city hall. Transparency and accountability begin with a councillor who cares and commits to a positive relationship with all members of our community. I am eager to learn, work hard, and represent progressive ideas for our city.
Reviving our downtown
Our downtown core needs our attention! The BIA has a new face and I plan on working with them to give our community a downtown where everyone belongs. We have vacant buildings that need to be properly maintained and small businesses that must be promoted in order for our core to thrive. Dundas Street is closed off every August for the popular event "Streetfest" which attracts community members to shop, dine, and play downtown but I believe more public space needs to be utilized year round. There is a proposal for a face lift on Museum Square and I want to ensure that public input is included in those decisions.
I have started hitting the pavement and knocking on doors but I am always looking for more volunteers. If you feel passionate about our city and would like to join me on the campaign trail please contact me!
